Collapse: The Fall of the Soviet Union

I'm halfway through now and this book is getting seriously upsetting. I've never seen someone fumble with such catastrophic consequences before. He led his whole country off a cliff for Bush to repeatedly embarrass him. Like stomach churning awfully embarrassing

I have no personal or familial connections to the Soviet Union and I was born after it collapsed but I found this book strangely traumatising. An impressive but decidedly not cheerful read.
